It was in the year 1950 when Chandra took his first step towards realizing his dreams by establishing Mukharochak, a humble confectionery shop that would soon become synonymous with unparalleled taste and quality. With a steadfast commitment to preserving age-old recipes and techniques, Chandra infused each creation with a touch of nostalgia, evoking cherished memories of childhood and festivities.

However, with the advice of an infamous astrologer, a young Panchanan Chandra took his step towards manufacturing Chanachur. The journey of Panchanan’s chanachur starts from a 50 sq. ft. space in the Tollygunge area near the famous ‘studio para’ which included both parts – manufacturing and sales of Chanachur.

Due to the impressive quality and wholesome taste, Panchanan da’s chanachur surged in sales and saw footfall of innumerous personalities. Such is the story of an esteemed literary personality who had a bite of Panchanan Da’s chanachur and those magical words came out from his mouth – “Mukharochak”. From here, starts the formation of the brand – Mukharochak.

The small store of Mukharochak witnessed footfalls from famous personalities like Manna Dey, Hemanta Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, Uttam Kumar and many more. During this tenure, Mukhorochak held a Tagline- ‘Mukhe dileyi mejaj khushi’ – given by actor & director Shri Utpal Dutta.

As Mukharochak gained popularity, the torch was passed onto Nirmalendu Chandra whose dedication to perfection propelled the brand to new heights. One of the major reasons why Mukhorochak became a house favourite is that it broke the taboo of Chanachur being an unhealthy snack. With constant innovation in taste and improving quality, Mukhorochak is now one of the leading FMCG brands in the snack industry.
